Referring someone to Pillow Care
Who this is for
Hospital discharge teams
Someone going home who needs help for a few weeks. We can arrange personal care, and a nurse where the discharge plan calls for one.
Clinics and family practices
A patient who is managing at home but not comfortably. Support at home is often the thing that is missing rather than more clinical input.
Community and disability organisations
People you already support who want care arranged on their own terms, at their own pace.
Insurers and benefit administrators
Members with a home-care entitlement. Every booking produces an itemised invoice.
How a referral works today
You give the person or their family the link, and they arrange the care themselves. They choose the professional, they see the price before they book, and they hold the relationship — not you and not us.
That is deliberate. Care arranged over somebody's head, by an organisation acting on their behalf without being asked, is the thing this platform is built to avoid. We can only work with an adult who is able to agree to care themselves.
What we do not have yet
- There is no API and no EMR or hospital-system integration. Referrals are a conversation and a link.
- There is no bulk-booking or account-managed billing. Each booking is made and paid for by the person receiving care or a family member they have authorised.
- There is no data-sharing agreement in place. We will not accept patient information from you before one exists.
- We cannot commit to availability. A referral does not secure a placement, and we will not imply that it does in order to receive more of them.
What we can tell you about quality
Every professional's government photo ID is confirmed, and every regulated professional's registration with their college is confirmed, before they can accept work. We do not currently run criminal-record checks, and we will not describe our checks as more than they are. The full list, including what is not checked.
Concerns raised about a visit are read by a person and recorded against a case rather than a mailbox.
How the money works
The person receiving care pays for the booking after the visit has happened. The professional sets their own rate; we take a percentage; tax is applied at the provincial rate; earnings are held for 24 hours before being sent on. Every booking produces an itemised invoice. Pricing in full.
Talk to us
If you are considering referring people here, tell us who you work with and what you need — including anything on the “not yet” list above, which is how we work out what to build.
